I figured this wonderful painting warranted it’s own post, especially given all of the Star Trek hype surrounding the new movie these days. This is the piece Bob Peak created for the poster of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. Beautifully rendered with excellent color choices, and love the light rays emanating from Spock’s face.
It’s a real shame to see the official movie poster design which uses a cropped version of the painting, seen here.
They don’t make them like this anymore. Stunning piece of artwork.
I love everything about this piece. I tweeted this poster a few weeks back for my ‘favorite piece of the day’ especially since I was working on a similar type of artwork. I gathered so much inspiration from this poster and I gained so much more respect for the artists like Bob Peak (cool name, horrible website).
Oh that’s spooky. I just finished watching that movie, came down to my computer, and there is was on Signalnoise.
