Who remembers Netbabyworld?

Back in 2000 I stumbled upon this small web-based videogame site. It quickly became one of my more traveled sites because of their simple yet innovative games, beautiful sprite-based graphics, stylized 3D characters and a sharp eye for retro/modern identity design.

The visual identity, style and mythology Playcom developed with their characters, environments and stories was unlike anything on the web at the time. Their style is somewhere between old-school Nintendo and Fisher Price. I especially love their design for The Peninsula, the town where all of their recurring characters dwell along with all of the buildings and transportation that inhabits it.

Netbabyworld.com has not been touched since 2003, and the company behind it, Playcom, was last updated in 2004. Very sad, because their ideas and style remains brilliant.

Does anyone have any information on what happened to Netbabyworld?
