I’m currently lost in the geometric work of Latvian-born artist Zanis Waldheims (1909 – 1993). Beautiful use of color and composition, completed by the traditional means of paint or pencil.
In 1952 he departed La Havre, France and arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 16 of that year. He then caught a train to Montreal and spent the rest of his days in Canada.
For more of his work, check out this memorial site as well as this Flickr stream.
Amazing, i didn’t know about him, great artwork!.
Glad you found him – he was my grandfather, and only now have I discovered his work. I put notes up at my Flickr site:

Hexodus, thanks very much for the comment. Honored to have you drop by as I’m a big fan of your grandfather. His work is incredibly methodical and beautifully executed. I’m sure his influence in the area of abstraction has been vast.
Thanks very much for the link to your Flickr set, I will update my post to include this extra information :) Very much appreciated.
