That’s right, according to the United Nations 2011 is the International Year of Forests, to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests. This is a wonderful subject to be discussed and supported the world over, as without our green friends there would be no us.
This isn’t an official poster, just something I created to lend my support to the event. I certainly hope they don’t mind my using their logo. I kept it simple and used the Canadian maple leaf off our flag as the repeated symbol to populate the tree in an attempt to keep it homegrown. Ugh, puns. The bulk of the work on this poster was copying and pasting all of those leaves, and adjusting them to the proper scale and angle. Tedious stuff, I think I may need glasses now.
So, swing over to the International Year of Forests websites to read more, and to see the year-long schedule of global events they have planned.
Ohh… sooooo pretty! This would be lovely as a desktop wallpaper a la the beaut 2009 version ‘year of astronomy’ – no? Just sayin’. You know.
This is totally beautiful, I love that it’s composed of maple leafs. It feels very Canadian in a subtle way.
Dude, this is awesome! I don’t think there is anything in your portfolio that looks like this. Keep raising the bar!
Wow, lovely image James.
Love it! :)
love it!
Wow nice! Any chance this will be made as a poster, would love to have for the office!
I love this… A LOT!
Very inspirational!
I like the fact that there are so many different ways to take it in. And the colors are fall-ish…but with a Signalnoise twist!
Thanks James!
totally biting andy gilmore’s previous work.
Dude, I’m from Canada. You have any idea how many designs use trees with maple leaves up here?
“Dude, I’m from Canada. You have any idea how many designs use trees with maple leaves up here?” – yea but I’m not, bring on the prints would spice up the office down here in the midwest a bit ;)
