That’s right, according to the United Nations 2011 is the International Year of Forests, to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests. This is a wonderful subject to be discussed and supported the world over, as without our green friends there would be no us.
This isn’t an official poster, just something I created to lend my support to the event. I certainly hope they don’t mind my using their logo. I kept it simple and used the Canadian maple leaf off our flag as the repeated symbol to populate the tree in an attempt to keep it homegrown. Ugh, puns. The bulk of the work on this poster was copying and pasting all of those leaves, and adjusting them to the proper scale and angle. Tedious stuff, I think I may need glasses now.
So, swing over to the International Year of Forests websites to read more, and to see the year-long schedule of global events they have planned.
