Signalnoise speaking events

October 27, 2010

I have been doing many presentations for designers and design students over the past year and always enjoy the opportunity to connect with a live audience to offer design insight and industry advice. I’ve done talks for high school classes, college design classes as well as presentations at big design conferences.

Geared toward being informative, insightful and entertaining, my talks normally include a biography on me and my design history, examples of inspiring art from the 20th century, a showcase of my personal body of work spanning 10 years, a client showcase and stories, technical demonstrations on making digital art, what online tools an artist can use to promote themselves, the importance of self-initiated projects, advice on improving personal work processes and of course a question and answer period. My presentations change slightly from venue-to-venue depending on the kind of audience who will be experiencing the talk.

If you are an instructor or student interested in arranging a Signalnoise Talk at your school or the organizer of a design event or conference, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Signalnoise Presentation – Back to the Future

Time to rock! Staying enthusiastic about your art and design is not entirely about finding new clients, nor is it about the changing industry. We need inspiration, entertainment, progression, a solid bridge between conceptual and technical, and a positive outlook on our place in the design universe. What matters when searching for your creative voice? This presentation will deal with all of these points wrapped into personal stories, art examples, client case studies, the importance of self-investment and a solid dose of nostalgic inspiration mixed with rock n’ roll.

James will also present the lessons learned from running his Signalnoise Design Studio for the past 5 years and how he went about creating his name in the design industry, which started 30 years ago at the age of 4. When this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you’re gonna see some serious shit.
