You and me, Toronto. In a few short weeks I will be traveling to attend and speak at my favorite design conference out there, the mighty FITC Toronto 2011 (May 2 – 4). This will be the third year in a row I’ll be leaving my stronghold of Halifax to visit all my designer pals at the event, and I can’t wait to get on the plane. It’s on, Toronto.
There are a few items of note this time around, things I’ll be doing and participating in. Here’s a quick rundown:
Presentation: Back To The Future: Part II
May 2, 11:15am • Room: Kool Haus
For the second year in a row I will be presenting at FITC Toronto, which is always a good time. Last year I presented a talk called Back To The Future, centered around inspiration, art showcase, client showcase, a short tutorial and advice. This year’s presentation will be a more robust version of the previous with new topics, art, clients, stories and advice for fledgling and veteran designers alike. It’s lovingly and sequentially titled Back To The Future: Part II, but have no fear if you didn’t see last year’s presentation. You haven’t missed a thing. More info»
Panel: Source + Imagination
May 4, 2:45pm • Room: Guvernment
This will be a new one for me. I will be sitting on a panel with some other fine creative folks discussing various topics and answering questions from the moderator and audience. It’s sure to be a good time and I’m really looking forward to discussing inspiration, imagination, and whatever else comes up. Panels are uncharted territory, seriously looking forward to this. Art Show: To Japan With Love
May 4, 7pm • Function13 Gallery (map)
I will be a part of an art show happening at Function13 entitled To Japan With Love, organized by the lovely Linda Nakanishi. In Linda’s words the show revolves around “a collective of artists who have a genuine connection and love for Japan and have created art for the fund raising relief efforts.”. All net proceeds from the show will by donated to the Canadian Red Cross for relief efforts in Japan. My Help Japan poster will be included in the show, and I will be bringing 18×24 posters to be sold. For more information see the website and Facebook event.
Looking forward to seeing you there. If you are planning on attending the big event this year, drop a comment on this post.
