Hello Halifax! A friendly reminder that my pal Sean Jordan, the Wordburglar, will be playing a show tonight (Aug. 8) at the Seahorse Tavern on Argyle Street.
As I mentioned on my Twitter this week, I have a few copies of the above poster and will bring them along to give away. Just say hello to me or Sean to nab one :)
Hope to see you there.
Here are just a few images from the huge portfolio of concept design master Syd Mead.
Syd created groundbreaking designs for films such as Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Blade Runner, Tron, Aliens, Short Circuit (that’s right, he designed Jonny 5), among many others. It’s not hard to see from his knowledge of mechanics and vehicles that he started his career at the Ford Motor Company in 1959.
I’m currently lost in the geometric work of Latvian-born artist Zanis Waldheims (1909 – 1993). Beautiful use of color and composition, completed by the traditional means of paint or pencil.
In 1952 he departed La Havre, France and arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 16 of that year. He then caught a train to Montreal and spent the rest of his days in Canada.
For more of his work, check out this memorial site as well as this Flickr stream.
Just as the ridiculous graphic above says, my two newest posters Awesome and Liquid Gold 77 are now available to purchase in the Signalnoise Store.
Up until now I have kept the cost of my posters along with shipping at a standard rate across the board, but that had to change a bit because of the dimensions of Awesome, standing at 40″ x 27″.
So, swing by the Signalnoise Store if you want to check out the newest wares.
To celebrate the launch of my two newest posters, I will be having a contest today to give away copies of Awesome and Liquid Gold 77. One winner will receive a copy of Awesome, another winner will receive Liquid Gold 77. Winners will be selected at random.
The guidelines are simple, I will announce the retweet phrase at 11:30am Atlantic time on my Twitter, at which point all you have to do is retweet the phrase once to enter. You will have 10 minutes. Pretty easy, huh?
Update: Contest has ended. Thanks to everyone who entered.
