Paris is a wonderful city. If I had the choice and it was in the cards, I would be moving there tomorrow without question. Being surrounded by so much culture and history is something I have never felt before, and that historical aesthetic seems to have leaked into every corner of the city’s design. The attention to detail in Paris’s architecture left my mouth agape. Where North American buildings seem to be built for the most part on blocks, in Paris every edge seems to be flourished with a carved leaf, smiling face, or floral arrangement.
Being my first time in Paris, in six days I did all kinds of the typical tourist stuff. Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Versailles, Musée de l’Armée, Musée d’Orsay, Arc de triomphe, Rodin Museum and a LOT of walking around the city taking in the sights and sounds, which let me take shots of some inspiring design bits (some seen in the shots above). I only wish I had more time to take in more of the current local art scene.
Seeing so much wonderful art (de Vinci, Michelangelo, Rodin to name a few) really rekindled my love of art made by hand. These guys didn’t have Photoshop or 3D Max to make their lives easier yet they created works of art that have been leaving people in awe for hundreds of years. Amazing.
Great city you Parisians have. I’ll hopefully be back.
On that note, any orders I received during last week or early this week (May 19 to May 27) will be shipped out later this week do to my absence. Thanks so much for the understanding.
